Bauduen is a medieval village, originally perched high above the Verdon river but now standing on the magnificent Lac Sainte Croix. In its pretty streets you will find that time has stood still with an ancient wash house, old church, presbytery and olive oil mill. However, the lake provides an abundance of opportunities for those who just want to relax on the beach or would prefer something more adventurous. There is excellent sailing and windsurfing, or if you prefer just hire a pedalo. There are several cafés, bars and excellent restaurants and, in summer, there is frequent entertainment. Out of season the village is very tranquil - an ideal retreat for a relaxing romantic break and the lake stays warm until the end of October.
The weather is usually fantastic with more than 300 days of clear blue skies and in the hottest summer there is always a breeze which makes it very pleasant. Even at Christmas it is possible to sit out at lunchtime and enjoy the warm sun but a jumper is needed in the crisp, cold starlit evenings.
